Blackpeak offers full-time and part-time internships throughout the year. Our editorial internship program provides undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates with the opportunity to work with our in-house team to provide key support for our research projects. Our past research projects include topics as diverse as Chinese bankruptcy and debt, relationships among Southeast Asian family conglomerates, and financial crime in Russia.
If the intern has coding experience in VBA, a significant part of the editorial internship will be to create macros in Microsoft Word to automate tasks such as aligning footnotes in report templates.
The editorial intern may also support the research process for our marketing materials, such as industry and country website blogposts. Most recently, Blackpeak has disseminated articles on Iranian money laundering, EU screening of FDI, a physical security assessment for business in southern Thailand, and the political risks to the AI industry in the US and China.
More generally, the editorial intern will help support the editorial team on a variety of ad hoc tasks.
Interns with outstanding performance will be considered for full-time positions upon graduation.
Successful applicants will preferably be students with, or pursuing a degree in, English, the humanities, politics, international relations, economics, or journalism with experience in qualitative research and analysis. Full professional proficiency in written and spoken English is required, although native or near-native English fluency is preferred. Proficiency in Visual Basic and macros for Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred.
The editorial intern will work out of our Hong Kong office. The internship program is designed to span approximately three to six months. For part-time candidates, a minimum commitment of 15 hours a week, and ideally over two consecutive days, for three months is preferred. Interns will be offered a modest monthly allowance. Blackpeak does not sponsor work visas for interns and you should make sure you are legally allowed to work in Hong Kong.
Interested applicants should submit a CV and cover letter to Blackpeak.Internship@acuris.com. In the subject line of your email, please state “Blackpeak Office Location – Period of Internship – Your Name.” For example, “Hong Kong – Apr to Jun 2020 – Jane Doe.”
